Dr. Palmer
- is Chief of Pediatric Urology at the Cohen Children’s Medical Center of New York (formerly Steven and Alexandra Cohen Children’s Medical Center) of the North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System in New Hyde Park (www.smithinstituteforurology.com) and Beth Israel Medical Center in Manhattan. - is Clinical Professor of Urology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine
- is the Program Director of the Fellowship in Pediatric Urology – the only such fellowship program in New York and President of the national organization for Pediatric Urology Fellowship Directors.
- was among the first pediatric urologists in the US to have a Certificate of Specialization in Pediatric Urology offered by the American Board of Urology.
- has authored over 100 published articles, commentaries and book chapters on pediatric urology with particular emphasis on voiding dysfunction, laparoscopy, reconstruction of the urinary tract, and testicular problems.
- has lectured extensively and has been invited as Visiting Professor to several major children’s hospitals in the US.
- Dr. Palmer has lectured extensively and has been invited as Visiting Professor to several major children’s hospitals in the US.
- sits on the Editorial Boards of every major urologic journal including the Journal of Urology, Urology, European Urology, and Dialogues in Pediatric Urology.
- was recognized as the Best Reviewer for the Journal of Urology in 2008.
- holds leadership positions in several major pediatric urology organizations.
- is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Society for Pediatric Urology, American Urological Association, and International Children’s Continence Society.
- founded the Children’s Center for Bladder Control, the largest center for the treatment of childhood voiding disorders in the nation where nurses and physicians have learned how to manage such patients and perform biofeedback techniques.
