Joan T. Volpe, M.S.N., C.P.N.P.
Joan Volpe is a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in our Lake Success office who received her education at Columbia University. Ms. Volpe also received her Master of Science in Nursing from Boston University and her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from C.W. Post College. She is a member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, The Pediatric Urology Nurse Specialists Committee and Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society.
Ms. Volpe has many years of experience in Pediatrics. As a PNP, she has worked collaboratively with three pediatricians in a busy Long Island pediatric practice. She has worked in the community as a Pediatric Visiting Nurse. Ms Volpe also has extensive experience with inpatient pediatrics. In her role as a Clinical Nurse Specialist , Ms. Volpe functioned as a Nurse Educator, Consultant and Researcher for Pediatrics and Pediatric Special Care at Winthrop University Hospital.
What is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner?
A nurse practitioner (NP) is a registered nurse with advanced academic and clinical education and experience. Nationally certified NPs hold a master's degree or higher. Nurse practitioners practice under the regulation of the Nurse Practice Act and are licensed by the State Education Department in New York State. Nurse practitioners are authorized to diagnose, treat, and prescribe in collaboration with a licensed physician.
