Clinical Research
All the physicians in Pediatric Urology Associates are actively involved in advancing medical knowledge.
They are active in publishing articles in major referred journals, authorship of chapters in textbooks, teaching at conferences and involvement in clinical research trials.
Presently, we are involved in the following research trials-
- The use of alpha blockers in patients with neurogenic bladder
- The use of antimuscarinics in patients with neurogenic bladder
Please ask us about these trials if you are interested in becoming involved in these studies. All expenses for medical treatment, travel and childcare will be reimbursed.
Why be involved in a clinical trial?
Since almost all medications utilized in pediatric urology are used in an off label manner (this means that the drug is not officially approved by the FDA for use in children or for that particular purpose) you and your child will benefit from the knowledge gained from these studies. Fine tuning of the proper dose and timing of the dosing can be determined from these studies.
Side effects that are particular to children can be determined. Children are not small adults and it is important to know how these drugs will affect children. You and your child will know that you have done something to further the treatment of this condition.
