Emily Cupelli, RN, MA, CPNP has been a Nurse Practitioner since 1994. She joined Pediatric Urology Associates in 2000. She utilizes a developmental approach to the treatment of voiding dysfunction and urinary incontinence in children and teens that is
well received by both children and families. 

Biography 

Ms. Cupelli earned a masters degree from New York University and a Post Masters Certificate as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner from Stony Brook University. She received her undergraduate degree in nursing from Binghamton University. She is pending certification from the Biofeedback Certification Institute of America.

Prior joining our practice, Ms Cupelli was the director of the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner program at Molloy College. In addition, she maintained a part time practice in general pediatrics in Peekskill, New York. While at Molloy College, she was a founding partner of the first NP owned private practice in Nassau County.

Ms Cupelli was an NP and study coordinator at North Shore University Hospital in Pediatric Immunology, treating children with acquired immune deficiencies, as well as primary immune deficiencies. She was study coordinator for seven different ACTG protocols, including Phase one studies.

*  Diagnoses and treats voiding dysfunction and incontinence, including nocturnal enuresis

*  Performs minor surgical procedures, as indicated

*  Collaborates with physicians and other health professionals, with appropriate referrals,
as needed

*  Teaches self care skills, including self catheterization, nutrition, normal development,
medications

*  Utilizes a family centered approach to resolution of health problems

      *  Special interests include and investigation of the relationship between Body Mass Index and
           incontience; the relationship between ADD/HD and incontinence; and treatment of
           chronic dysuria.

What is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner?

A nurse practitioner (NP) is a registered nurse with advanced academic and clinical education and experience. Nationally certified NPs hold a master's degree or higher. Nurse practitioners practice under the regulation of the Nurse Practice Act and are licensed by the State Education Department in New York State. Nurse practitioners are authorized to diagnose, treat, and prescribe in collaboration with a licensed physician.

A Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (PNPs) are very special health care providers who are dedicated to improving children's health. PNPs have advanced education in pediatric nursing and health care and they serve children and families in an extensive range of practice settings.
